Drink water – okay, this is the obvious one. If you aren’t a fan of plain water, try adding some lemon or cucumber slices. Drinking plenty of water not only helps give your skin a beautiful glow, it aids digestion. Toxins are eliminated more easily which might otherwise show up on your skin. Keeping your skin hydrated also slows the aging process, as it helps to maintain the skin’s elasticity and combat wrinkles. In addition, well hydrated skin is less likely to become oily so keeping hydrated helps avoid problems such as breakouts and acne. Try keeping a bottle at your desk so you can sip throughout the day. The NHS recommends 1-2 litres a day, or around eight glasses of water.
Eat water rich foods – things like berries, peaches, watermelon, celery, peppers, cucumber, lettuce – think of all the delicious and healthy smoothies and salads you can make. Eating water rich foods can help you keep hydrated thoughout the day in addition to drinking water. Choose plenty of coloured fruit and veg to make sure you are getting the vitamins you need, which help promote great skin.
